Nokia Cell Phones Expands Into Luxury Cell Phones With The Nokia 6700 "gold Edition"

Nokia Cell Phones has gone, with one phone at least, the way of targeting on a certain group with their new 6700 plated in 18-carat gold. While the majority of cell phone companies to date have been focused on revving up their best smartphones for the market some companies are also trying their luck with niche and demographic specific phones, targeting certain groups rather than the general population. Both tactics have been successful in keeping the companies competitive in an ever--widening market and both are undoubtedly helpful in making companies distinct.

Nokia Cell Phones 6700 "Gold Edition" is plated completely with 18-carat gold and includes matching gold wallpapers. These are part of an increasing, though not large, trend of luxury cell phones on the market today. LG Cell Phones have done similar such things as have designer brands, coming out with cell phones sold exclusively in department stores and boutiques. The Nokia 6700 "Gold Edition" also comes with a great 5 megapixel camera that has auto focus as well as an LED flash, noise canceling technology for disruptive outside noise and even Nokia maps for both driving and walking directions. So while this may be a luxury phone it is not all looks it does have excellent functionality, too.

It is a luxury phone that features a slim, sleek design, beautiful aesthetics and a fairly rich feature. When all is said and done this phone really does exemplify balance. While it is known as a luxury phone the people at Nokia were very savvy in giving more than just looks. They truly delivered and it seems as though that will pay tremendous dividends for them.

What is so nice about this and other phones coming out today is that developers find new, exciting and creative ways to make phones stand out while never shying away nor neglecting some of the basic functions and necessities that people have come to expect in a cell phone -- that is cell phone call quality, coverage, and the likes. And that is of utmost importance today because one cannot make a cell phone that has the richest feature set to date then neglect call quality and expect the phone to be a hit. It simply does not work in that manner.

So keep in mind that today, a luxury may be luxurious but that doesn't mean that it can't still function like any other quality cell phone out there. And that is exactly the way things should be, right?

Nokia 6600I: Bridging The Gap Between Cell Phones And Smartphones

The Nokia 6600i Slide is an upgraded version of their older 6600 cell phone. These phones employ the slider form factor, where the screen doubles as the cover and is moved to reveal the keypad underneath. The 6600i Slide is a 3G phone with 2.2 inches of screen real estate, at 240x320 TFT pixels and 16 million colors. The 5 megapixel autofocus camera has dual LED flashes, but video recording is limited to only 15 fps in VGA resolution or 30 fps in QVGA resolution. The 6600i Slide can connect over quad-band GSM, UMTS, EDGE, or 3G networks for video calls. A novel feature of this phone is its tap control capabilities, where the phone may be controlled simply by being tapped! Just tap the phone to activate its accelerometer and wake it up, or disable the alarm, or mute the ringer, or reject incoming calls.

The 6600i Slide is compatible with Bluetooth 2.0, and offers USB connectivity as well. In common with most Nokia phones these days, there is also a built-in FM radio player. MicroSD cards are supported up to a maximum of 16GB for additional storage space. The standard 6600i box includes a 1GB microSD card, the Nokia WH-203 wired stereo headset, and a data cable in addition to the phone and its battery and charger. This phone is available in silver or black brushed metal color schemes.

Though it comes with a host of features, including a standard set of Symbian Series 40 applications and Nokia Maps pre-installed, the 6600i is not a smartphone, so the option to download additional software is of rather limited utility. It also doesn't support 3.5G speeds. The 1000 mAh lithium-ion battery allows for fourteen days of standby time; talk time is officially rated as up to four hours via GSM and three with UMTS. The Nokia 6600i Slide is a stylish upgrade from the old 6600, with improved battery life over the previous model, which occasioned user complaints of abysmal performance in that respect. The keypad should also prove more scratch-resistant, another common observation of the older model. This is an entry-level cell phone with smartphone-like features that should bridge the gap between cell phones and smartphones, which seems to be Nokia's long-term strategic vision (as evidenced by their other releases concurrent with the 6600i). It is stylish and fairly powerful but priced for the middle range of the market, at casual users who want something very small and handy.

The New Wave Cellular Accessories

IPhones continue to get better and the applications that can be downloaded onto them are also becoming stronger and stronger. These are not cellular accessories in the form of Samsun accessories as you might think. Of course, there is a slew of junk out there that wastes space more than anything else, but there are quality applications with practical features, albeit sometimes for a very closed niche. Either way its hard to find ones that fit your lifestyle. Sifting through all the trash is overwhelming much of the time. So to get acquainted with a few while avoiding being bombarded with apps, this list has made a few good ones to check out. Theres not a particular or and there is not any ranking. There just well received, proven iPhone, cellular accessories.

Redlaser - This application allows users to scan bar codes of items to do price comparison shopping. The scanner isn't the best but the idea is there and at this point it is functional.

Bento - With this simple feature you are able to create databases to store information about all aspects of your life. Of course it doesn't have to be about your life it can be anything you want.

TweetDeck - This application will let you do all things twitter and the best part is it is designed just like the twitter page. You have the ultimate twitter to right at your fingertips.

Print and Share - With this you can print just about anything you like including articles, emails and pictures from your phone right to your home or office printer. It is very user friendly and very helpful.

Hey Where Are You - A beautifully simple application that uses push notification to ask and answer the question of Hey where are you? Very easy to use.

Textfree Unlimited - If your SMS costs and plans are getting outrageous this is the best alternative. It uses push notification and is relatively easy to work.

Mover - With this you can swap contact and photos with other iPhone users. Its free and quick to download but both users must have for it to work.

These are just some of the great new applications that came out this year. While they aren't cellular accessories in the true sense of the word, they are becoming the new wave of such a thing. Just think, Samsung accessories could start making these applications for any and all phones. Anyway, these are just some that came out this year. So as you can see we are only scratching the surface but it is clear that these some very practical features. While some may fill a void for only a select few people, they are nonetheless practical. The best part is many are free, easy to use and take up very little space.
